Steph Curry’s Slam Dunk of Kindness: NBA Star Ensures Young Fan Gets Her Dream Shoes

Steph Curry, the star player for the Golden State Warriors, recently demonstrated his kindness and commitment to gender equality both on and off the basketball court. It all began when nine-year-old Riley Morrison from Napa, California, wrote a letter to Curry expressing her disappointment that his signature shoes, the ‘Curry 5’s’, were only available in the boys’ section on Under Armour’s website.

Moved by Riley’s letter, Curry personally responded after ten days, acknowledging the issue and promising to address it with Under Armour. He assured Riley that they would correct the labeling of smaller sizes and make the Curry 5’s available in the girls’ section. True to his word, the necessary changes were swiftly made on the website.

But Curry didn’t stop there. In a remarkable gesture, he informed Riley that he would send her a pair of the Curry 5’s immediately and also promised her an early pair of the upcoming Curry 6’s.

Moreover, he invited Riley to join him for a special event celebrating International Women’s Day in Oakland on March 8, showcasing his commitment to empowering young girls like Riley through sports and equality initiatives.

Curry’s actions garnered widespread praise on social media, where his letter received over 121,000 likes and 20,000 retweets on Twitter. Beyond his philanthropy, Curry continues to inspire both on and off the court, where he aims to make a triumphant return following a three-week absence due to a groin injury.

This story not only highlights Curry’s generosity and advocacy for gender equality but also underscores the positive impact athletes can have on their communities, especially young fans like Riley Morrison.
